The working class in Tangiers commemorated the first day of May, coinciding with Labor Day, amid an agreement to demand a reduction in prices, in addition to demands related to improving social, material and professional conditions, and achieving more gains.
The commemoration of the Labor Day for the trade union bodies, which are affiliated under the banner of the trade union centres, constituted an occasion to reaffirm the necessity of “preserving and defending the rights of the working class, responding to its demand files and addressing the social impotence.”
The working class called, through banners raised on this occasion, to improve working conditions, review the wage system, provide public services in the fields of education, health, housing and work, and apply the exceptional promotion.
In this context, they chanted slogans denouncing “the rise in the prices of basic materials, and the non-increase in the wages and compensations of workers to face the wave of high prices,” calling for providing job opportunities, reducing unemployment, raising wages, preserving the purchasing power of the citizen, reforming the education and health sectors, and respecting Association freedoms and protection of rights and gains.
These branches called, during the gatherings they organized at the level of Muhammad Al-Khas Street, for an optimal implementation of the legal requirements, in order to allow the working class to improve its economic and social status.
She also called for improving the social status of workers in the public and private sectors and motivating them to engage in the reform process to achieve the desired quality and raise the level of health services for the population, stressing the need to strengthen the health sector with specialized medical staff and nurses and to provide social services for the benefit of workers in this field.
The trade unions called on the working class to unite their ranks and unify their efforts in order to fortify the gains that have been achieved for their benefit, and to defend their just and legitimate demands to achieve more workers’ demands.
