May 1st Rallies and Demonstrations in Lower Saxony: A Comprehensive Overview

Status: 05/01/2023 09:53 a.m

Numerous rallies and demonstrations are taking place in Lower Saxony today. When will protests take place in which city? Are there any special features or prominent speakers? An overview.

The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) has put May 1st this year under the motto “unbroken solidarity”. “Because we as trade unions stand for solidarity, even in troubled times,” it said in advance in a statement. Rarely has a motto been so appropriate, commented the union ver.di: “It doesn’t matter whether it’s for the postal wage negotiations, at the airports, in local public transport, in the private energy industry or, most recently, in the long and intensive ones Labor disputes in the public service of the federal government and the municipalities (…) we have shown what we can achieve together in solidarity.” The DGB is planning rallies, demonstrations, festivals, concerts and discussions in numerous cities.
