When we open the tailgate of the electric SUV Maxus Euniq6, it’s like opening the door to a barn. Here there is almost room to arrange a wedding!
There is no doubt about what this car’s big selling point is. What you do not get here, you can safely leave at home. Because you do not need it!
It is of course very relevant for the Norwegian market. We are known for taking both big and small on trips. With a starting price of 379,900 kroner, there is also no doubt that this is extremely much space for the money.
But not everything is equally positive …
Bad start
Maxus has gained a good foothold in Norway in the last couple of years. Most of the sales so far have been on vans. But now they have also begun to phase in passenger cars. First out was the electric multi-purpose car Euniq5.
It also has space as its biggest selling point. In addition, it has the possibility of seven seats.
But the range is limited, it has a rather hopeless design and the driving characteristics are not much to brag about. So maybe Euniq6 can make up for some of what we’re missing.
Therefore, this is a price bomb

Car-themed look
The first impression is at least much better. This does not look bad at all. Our biggest complaint is the chrome details, which are a little too flashy. However, you can hide these with a Chrome Delete – ie foil.
One of the test cars that was available when we were on test, had done just that. And it just looked really harsh.
Our second visual appeal is the SAIC MOTOR mark on the tailgate. They look like something you can buy at Biltema. But of course this can also be easily solved – just remove it!
SAIC MOTOR also represents Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation – and they are owners of, among others, Maxus – and China ’s largest car manufacturer.

The luggage space is the big trump card here.
–
Looks good
Inside, the first impression is good. It looks pretty neat and tidy. The seats have a stylish design – but the comfort does not quite live up to the look.
As you get in place, you will also notice that a number of steps have been taken to save money. Hard plastic and other material choices quickly reveal that this is not a premium car.
Screens and center console look less cluttered and “cheap” than on the Euniq5 – and that’s good news .
–
The dashboard and center console are neat and look good. You do not get navigation and your own app for the car. But it has the potential for Apple Carplay.
–
Saved money
You also notice on the driving characteristics that money has been saved on the chassis. Road bumps and telehiv can be a bit tiring. There is also noticeably more tire noise than we expect in a new electric car.
But what will sell this car is the space. The luggage compartment is 754 liters. The floor can be lifted up – and opens up a spacious place to lay charging cables. However, you do not get luggage space in front.
You can have a roof rack weighing up to 50 kilos – and it can pull a trailer. But the latter has a limit of only 400 kilos.
–
There is plenty of space in the back seat. Glass roof is standard. The same is true of leather interiors.
–
Space, space and space
The back seat is also generous. Here there is a good ceiling height, flat floor across the entire car and adjustment options on the rear seat. Three adults can sit here nicely.
When judging this car, one must always take the price into consideration.
A Tesla Model X, which has about the same amount of luggage space, quickly costs one million kroner more …
The battery pack has 70 kWt net capacity. It provides an estimated range of 345 kilometers, measured by the combined WLTP cycle. So the car is not a range winner.
The car has an onboard charger of 7.2 kW for home charging on the WallBox, and is quickly charged from 30-80 percent in 35 minutes, then under ideal conditions.
Consumption, range and more details about driving characteristics, we must return to when we have been allowed to drive the car for more than just a couple of hours.
–
The hedge actually looks pretty good. But the SAIC MOTOR logo on the left looks cheap and retrofitted.
