The Europa League participant is still looking for reinforcements for the offensive. Freiburg’s sports director Jochen Saier announced on Saturday after the 2-1 win at TSG Hoffenheim at the start of the season that something would happen “soon”. The only new signing for the SC Freiburg offensive so far, Junior Adamu, missed the start of the season due to a patellar tendon injury.

Philipp had already played for Freiburg from 2013 to 2017 under coach Christian Streich. In Wolfsburg on Saturday he was missing in the 2-0 win against newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim. Lower Saxony had already loaned the offensive player to Werder Bremen for the second half of last season. Among other things, Philipp was also under contract with Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2019.
