Maxime Cressy reigns supreme after achieving the best qualification of his career.

The American Maxime Cressy does not lose confidence and thinks he has the means to climb to the top of the ATP rankings. Cressy, 25, won his first ATP title last week in Newport and now sits No. 33 in the world, the highest ranking of his career.

Cressy has improved its ranking since the start of the season, breaking into the top 100 for the first time in January. Cressy is happy with his new ranking, the best of his career, but is not yet satisfied because he thinks he could benefit from a much better ranking.

“Regardless of the ups and downs, my ranking has gone up very quickly over the past two years,” Cressy told the ATP website. “Considering all the failures I’ve had, it’s kind of crazy, because I really feel like I’ve fallen a lot.

But I picked myself up quickly, never gave up and stayed resilient. Breaking out of the Top 30 so quickly is a great indication. [para mí] that I have what it takes to be number one in the world.

I don’t think that belief will ever change.”

Cressy won his first ATP title in Newport.

In the Newport final, local favorite Cressy beat Alexander Bublik 2-6 6-3 7-6 (3). Cressy found himself in a tight spot after Bublik took a 6-2 3-0 lead, but the American was able to pull himself together and win the title.

“It’s an amazing feeling to win my first title, I never thought I would win it this way,” Cressy said after winning the title. “I played my first ATP tournament here, and it’s always an incredible atmosphere.

There were a lot of ups and downs today, but I’m very proud of myself for fighting until the end.” Cressy will not play this week as he is expected to return to action the next North American tour on hard.
