Maxime candid about father Claire: ‘I was the culprit’

Maxime had daughter Claire when she was only 21 years old. “My mother has always said I should do what feels right for me. But my father and sister were very much against it. They thought I was too young and thought a baby would ruin my life,” she recalls. “Daddy didn’t talk to me for two weeks while living next door.”

Maxime had an appointment at the abortion clinic, but ultimately decided not to go ahead. “The second time, the lady of the clinic went to briefly explain what an abortion was. She said that I had to stay at home under supervision all weekend, because I would bleed so badly. Then the realization came: what am I actually doing? “Why would I take a child away? That suddenly felt so bad,” said the young mother.

The girl’s father is not in the picture. “He wanted to go to the clinic to support me, but when I decided not to take the child away, it was like, ‘I don’t need to talk to you anymore, bye,” says Maxime. There was one last conversation when Maxime was six months pregnant, but she was not there herself. “I was the one to blame, thought that family (…) The worst thing was that they said: ‘When the child is four years old, when she will have memories, we might come by.'” But Maxime is there. finished: “How do you get it in your head?”
