Fur is too much nowadays, but Máxima showed a good alternative today. During the presentation of the Prince Claus Impact Awards, she wore a dress with sharp threads.
More on that later, first a little attention to the content. Prince Constantijn, as Honorary Chairman of the Board of the Prince Claus Fund, presented the prizes to six artists and cultural workers who, with their cultural and artistic work, make a positive contribution to the social development of their country.
The prizes are awarded to: Alves Lacerda Krenak (Brazil) indigenous leader, environmentalist, philosopher, poet and writer; Alain Gomis (Senegal) French-Senegalese director and screenwriter; Hassan Darsi (Morocco), visual artist whose work promotes critical thinking about public spaces and citizenship; Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara (Cuba) artist and human rights defender; María Medrano (Argentina) writer, poet, editor and activist for the rights of women prisoners and people of the LGBTQIA+ community; May al-Ibrashy (Egypt), architect whose work involves communities in the conservation, restoration and redevelopment of heritage.
The Prince Claus Fund was established in 1996 in honor of Prince Claus’ dedication to culture and development. The fund considers culture as a basic need. In areas where cultural expression is under pressure, the fund supports, connects and rewards artists and culture. Since 2021, the Prince Claus Fund has focused on supporting people through three award categories: annual Seed Awards; Thematic Mentorship Awards; and Impact Awards, which recognize outstanding efforts by role models and are presented every two years.
Mode
I already wrote it in the introduction: the queen has found an alternative to fur. So no foxes and mink around her neck, but a collar of sharp threads. These are filaments (threads) cut to size, which approach the warm and luxurious effect of fur. Tag on back of dress and collar: Natan.
The dress is not new. The Queen also wore it to her 2020 New Year reception.
