Yes, Máxima made a golden choice for the state banquet with the Italian president. She is wearing her Taminiau from Prinsjesdag 2013!
For those who say nothing: it is a gold-colored dress with transparent sleeves and a belt at the waist. The entire dressing gown features a wyber degradé motif embroidered with several layers of sequins and glass beads, which give the dress a three-dimensional effect.

The diadem that Queen Máxima is wearing tonight is also known as the Württemberg diadem. The jewel was purchased a year before Wilhelmina’s inauguration, that is, in 1897, to give the very young queen a little extra grandeur. The tiara can be worn with 11 vertical pearls. Today the Queen wears a version with five pearls (left) and she has also worn the diadem three times without beaded pearls (right).
For those curious what we ate tonight: including a delicious tree trunk. (The press had to eat one floor down.)
