The central defender of the Austrian LASK Maxim Taloverov shared with the UPL TV telegram channel his emotions from his debut call-up to the Ukrainian national team.
Maxim Taloverov
“I’m very, even incredibly happy, because this is the dream of every child and I’m no exception.” My dream and goal was to get into the first team. But I don’t pay much attention to it now, because there are two very important matches for LASK coming up – in the Europa League and in the championship, we need to win both.
I found out this news, was happy for several hours and now continue to work and focus on the matches, because there is no time to relax. Moreover, subsequently the national team’s match against Italy in the qualification for Euro 2024 was also extremely important. I continue to work as I did and believe that everything will be as it should be.
— From whom did you learn about the call to the national team?
— Just last night the manager of the first team wrote to me and we talked. Subsequently, the head of the U-21 team and several other staff representatives wrote.
— Have you communicated with Sergei Rebrov?
— We met in Prague at a charity match between veterans of the national teams of Ukraine and the Czech Republic. But we didn’t talk about football. They just asked each other how things were going. But I’m sure we’ll talk in the near future.
— Who was the first person you shared the news about being called up to the national team with?
— My girlfriend was the first to find out, because we were together when they wrote to me. Then parents and close friends.
— What do you think was the main factor in your challenge?
– I think this question is somewhat not for me. I always try to work at my maximum, but the coaching staff makes the decision. My goal is always to give 100% and I am very happy that the opportunity arose to go to the national team.
