TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Max Verstappen unable to complete the third free practice session (FP3) of Formula 1 or British F1 with a positive result, Saturday, July 8, 2023. On that occasion he destroyed the front wing of his racing car on the way to the pits.
“This is very embarrassing for me. But a scene like that also proves how quickly things go wrong. I just underestimated how much grip there was and accelerated a little too fast. Nothing like this has ever happened to me,” he said Speedweek.
Luckily, Verstappen was not injured in the incident. The Red Bull Racing racer ensured that everything went well ahead of the 2023 British F1 Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit.
Verstappen himself was only able to rank 8th in FP3 F1 England 2023 with a record time of 1 minute 28.266 seconds. He was 0.847 seconds behind from the fastest racer, namely Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
“It was very tricky. I found it difficult to feel the level of track grip. In the first part of qualifying I was sliding straight ahead at Turn 15. In this section it was almost impossible to see where the road surface was wetter,” he explained.

“I know we have a fast car. But it’s very easy to mess up the clock or allow yourself to make a small mistake. And even if things often seem so simple to us, the pressure is always there,” he added.
Even though the results weren’t great in British FP3 F1 2023, Verstappen managed to score a pole position. He was able to become the fastest in the 2023 British Formula 1 qualifying session with a record time of 1 minute 26.720 seconds.
