Verstappen wins in Brazil and is now the 4th driver with the most victories in F1
Another lap, another victory for Max Verstappen – his 17th this season -, who with the victory of the São Paulo Grand Prix moves into 4th place among the drivers with the most victories in the history of F1 (52). The Dutchman is now one victory away from reaching the record of German Sebastian Vettel, who said goodbye to F1 with 53 career victories.
With this triumph, it should be noted that Verstappen ended up breaking yet another record: he now has the highest percentage of races won (77%) in a single season, surpassing the record that belonged to Ascari since… 1952 (6 victories in 8 races – 75%). I’ll keep this record even if the Dutchman doesn’t win any more races until the end of this season.
Lando Norris had a fantastic race and finished second, ahead of Alonso. The Spaniard held off Pérez stoically until lap 70, when the Mexican overtook him. Without giving up his position, Alonso managed to regain 3rd place on the last lap and the indecision remained until the checkered flag. In the end, the Spaniard was 53 thousandths faster than Red Bull’s 11th.
With this 3rd place, Alonso equaled Alain Prost and is now the 4th driver with the most podiums in the history of the competition (106).
