Max Verstappen – who else – has won the Grand Prix of Hungary. At the Hungaroring in Budapest, the Dutchman tore past pole sitter Lewis Hamilton in the first corner and then didn’t look back. For Verstappen it was his 7th GP victory in a row, the 9th of the season.

From P2 straight to P1
Max Verstappen did not start from pole position at the Hungaroring. Lewis Hamilton had trumped him yesterday by 3 thousandths.
The 7-time world champion could not enjoy his favorable position for long. In turn 1 Verstappen already squeezed past Hamilton.
To make matters worse, the Brit was also outwitted by the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Verstappen thought it was fine. He didn’t look back and drove to his 9th win of the season, his 7th in a row.
In the coming weeks, the Dutchman can look for Sebastian Vettel’s record. The German won 9 races in a row ten years ago.
Norris finishes 2nd again, Pérez 3rd
The battle for podium places 2 and 3 was more exciting.
Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez did not entertain the public this time with a crash, but with some overtaking maneuvers. The Mexican moved up from 9 to 3.
Lando Norris got a little warm as the Mexican approached within seconds, but the Briton held on and finished in 2nd position just like at Silverstone.
Well at a good distance from Verstappen. The winner was already half a minute in when Norris pushed his McLaren over the line.
Chain collision
The French ruffs Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon received the trophy Bad Bird of the Day. The two teammates knocked each other out of the race.
Not on purpose. On the first lap, they suffered a pile-up caused by Chinese rider Zhou Guanyu. He hit Daniel Ricciardo, who in turn crashed into the two Alpines.
Ricciardo did grace his return with a better performance than AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The Australian came 13th in Hungary, the Japanese 15th.
Record for Red Bull
With 12 victories in a row, Red Bull is a record richer. The team knocks McLaren off the throne, which in 1988, with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, won 11 consecutive times.
Next week the Grand Prix of Belgium is on the menu at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
