KOMPAS.com – The 2023 Austrian F1 GP results present Max Verstappen as the winner. The race rolls on at the Red Bull Ring on Sunday (2/7/2023) evening WIB.
This was Max Verstappen’s fifth straight win at Red Bull’s home circuit, the most of any other track on the Formula 1 calendar.
Not only that, this result is Verstappen’s 42nd win in Formula 1. Interestingly, half of that number came in the last 14 months.
The day before, Verstappen also won the Sprint Race at the 2023 Austrian GP ahead of his teammate, Sergio Perez.
Despite finishing first, Verstappen lost the series of leading Formula 1 races he has recorded since the 2023 Miami GP.

The Dutch racer fell behind Charles Leclerc for 10 tracks after entering the pits.
Before being cut by Leclerc, Verstappen led the F1 race in 248 laps which was the third highest in F1 history after Alberto Ascari (1952) and Ayrton Senna (1998).
Leclerc ended up finishing behind Verstappen for only Ferrari’s second podium of the season.
Sergio Perez completed the podium after climbing from 15th to third place.
The Road Race
The safety car entered at the start of the race after Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) got into the gravel at Tikugan 1 first lap.
The Virtual Safety Car then entered after Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) stopped on the track with smoke coming out from behind his car.
Many drivers, such as the Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, the Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris (McLaren) and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) took advantage of the break in the race to enter the pits to change tires.
Hamilton then received a five-second penalty for repeated violations of crossing the track boundaries.
The same thing was also given to Sainz on the 30th lap and Gasly on the 43rd lap.
Verstappen then took over from Charles Leclerc, who had led the race for 10 laps, on lap 35.
Sainz and Lando Norris were then involved in an exciting duel for several laps.
However, in hindsight they have their eyes on Perez.
The Mexican racer managed to pass Norris and soon pounced on Carlos Sainz after fighting fiercely with the Ferrari racer to climb to the podium on the 61st lap.
“Sergio Perez needs to race like this after such a disappointing qualifying session,” said Sky Sports F1 expert David Croft.
Verstappen, after arguing with his team, entered the pitstop with one lap remaining to record the fastest lap.
He replaced the tires with soft and managed to record the fastest lap he was chasing.
