Daniel Ricciardo was Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing from 2016 to 2018. On Thursday in Hungary, the reigning world champion said he had nothing against working with the Australian in the same team again.
Max Verstappen: “It’s great to have Daniel back on the grid with our family. On the other hand, Nick de Vries and I are good friends, so it’s sad that he’s gone. Unfortunately, this is how the world works. However, I don’t think there are any hard feelings between the riders. Daniel got the opportunity, and I believe that after a short rest he is ready to return.
In fact, I never wanted him to leave the team. We get on very well with him, and if Daniel shows himself well now, then he will have the opportunity to return to the team. The question is open.”
Commenting on the novelties that the engineers have prepared for the Hungarian stage, Max said: “They look good. The purpose of updates is to make the car faster, but if they make it even more beautiful, then that’s great. New items should help us to add to the corners.
This weekend we certainly will not think that we can win the twelfth race in a row, but if we can do it, we will set a new record. But it’s more important that we win.”
