He was right, same happened, had a serious accident, my KPN car was completely in ruins, engine block was ripped out by the forces. I was very lucky I had come out alive without any color chafing (Scooped by a Kipper driving through red) ..
First thing my employer did when he arrived, and saw I was unharmed, throwing the keys to a car with the message, he didn’t want to see me in the office until late afternoon, and I had to go touring all afternoon with the car. Less than half an hour after that accident, I was already driving around happily.
While the shock was still good.
I also had an accident on a ladder (this was during my internship, before I worked at KPN) at Akzo against a facade of an outbuilding, where fuses of high current installations were replaced inside, something went wrong and things exploded.
The wall of the building came out, where I stood with my ladder at a height of 10 meters. Luckily against the edge of the IJ, so, what was my luck, it plunged 2 meters lower and had my back on the edge of the quay, don’t think I had retold that.
But I never processed that, for weeks, did not have to work for a few days, then everyone very carefully, from taking it easy, doing easy things, etc etc … and discovered over time I developed a panic fear of getting up scaffolding and ladders, panic fear strikes as soon as they move, while my mind says nothing to worry about, the unconscious takes full control of reality. I absolutely no longer dare to stand on ladders and scaffolding because I have not dealt with that trauma properly, and have not faced my fears.
As a child I climbed on everything, before this accident on another job, I quietly jumped off scaffolding from even greater height into a pile of glass wool (can I edge you off by the way) had absolutely no problems with ladder, scaffolding or fear of heights, then whole life I only got rid of that fear after I started parachuting through therapy.
So yes, absolutely not a Read my Lips oV card .. just confront trauma, in order to process this is the best advice.
