Max Verstappen clocked by far the fastest time on Friday (local time) in the second free practice session for the Miami Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc crashed at the Miami International Autodrome, while Nyck de Vries finished nineteenth.
The 25-year-old Verstappen was almost four tenths faster than number two Carlos Sainz with 1.27.930. His Ferrari teammate Leclerc (1.28.315) completed the top three and Sergio Pérez finished fourth, half a second behind Verstappen.
Leclerc caused a red flag ten minutes before the end. The Monegasque went off the track in turn 7 and understeered into the tire stack. The impact of the blow was not too bad, but the front of the Ferrari was considerably damaged. It was crucial that the new floor that debuts on the car this weekend survived the blow.
Verstappen put things in order with his fastest time. In the first practice session at the Miami International Autodrome, the Red Bull driver had finished fourth. A few hours earlier, the Mercedes drivers were still fastest, but in the second session Lewis Hamilton (seventh) and George Russell (fifteenth) played a supporting role.

De Vries finally makes much-needed kilometers
The second training session was also difficult for De Vries, although he did make the much-needed kilometers on the circuit that was new to him. De Fries had finished last in the first session and ended the second session one place higher. His AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda did not fare much better in eighteenth place. The AlphaTauri is not very similar to this circuit.
