In 2023, Max Verstappen arrived at the team’s home stage with an overwhelming advantage and without feeling the pressure. Since the anti-COVID restrictions have been lifted, the stands in Spielberg are always full and painted orange. They waited for the victory of their idol, and Max answered them in return, showing the best time in training, winning the Friday and Saturday qualifications and the sprint – just like last year.
His partner and closest rival in the championship, Sergio Perez, started only 15th – in the second part of the qualification, his laps were canceled for violating the boundaries of the track, and in total, the stewards canceled 67 laps over the weekend, which could not but affect the balance of power.
