Chelsea agreed with Mauricio Pochettino to become their new manager.
Details of the transaction are expected to be finalized in the coming days. Pochettino will take up his new role in the summer, with Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Tony Jimenez and his son Sebastiano Pochettino joining him at Stamford Bridge as a backup team. The club’s coaches will also join his team.
Pochettino will work with Chelsea’s sporting directors and caretaker manager Frank Lampard before the end of the season.
The Argentine has retired from football since giving up his role at Paris Saint-Germain in July last year.
Chelsea have been on the hunt for a new permanent manager since Graham Potter was sacked last month, with former manager Lampard being appointed caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.
Pochettino found fame at Espanyol and Southampton before enjoying a hugely successful spell at Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham.
He helped Spurs finish in the top four for four consecutive seasons and guided them to their maiden Champions League final in 2019.
He was sacked the following season before taking over as Paris Saint-Germain head coach in January 2021.
They won the French Cup in May 2021 before winning the Ligue 1 title the following season.
Chelsea have had a very difficult season with both Potter and Thomas Tuchel getting paid for their jobs.
Lampard was deployed on a temporary basis in April and clinched his first win in May with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth after a run of six straight defeats.
On Saturday they drew Nottingham Forest.
