London –
Mauricio Pochettino evaluate Nicolas Jackson not just a spearhead for Chelsea. Mobility makes it seem to play in many positions.
Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal this summer. The 21-year-old player was bought by the Blues from the Yellow Submarine for 32 million pounds.
Jackson has appeared with Chelsea in two test matches against Wrexham and Brighton & Hove Albion. In these two matches, the striker from Senegal performed well to bring Chelsea to victory.
Jackson made one assist as Chelsea beat Wrexham 5-0. He stole even more attention when the Blue beat Brighton 4-3. Jackson managed to record his debut goal with Chelsea and packed two assist.
Reflecting on his appearance in the two matches above, Jackson is not just the type of attacker who waits for a ripe pass. He is active and also good at creating opportunities for his colleagues.
Chelsea manager, Maurico Pochettino, admitted that Jackson was not just spearheading the two matches. This man from Argentina thinks that Jackson seems to play in many positions because of his mobility.
This surprised Pochettino. He believes Jackson will continue to grow with Chelsea.
“For the circumstances in these two matches we used him as a striker, but he can play like an attacking midfielder, like No.10, like No.8 or on the wing as well,” Pochettino said as quoted by Football London.
“It’s about dynamics and imagination of the team and of course the combinations between team-mates. But he’s a fantastic player and he’s improving every day,” he explained.
