Maud is busy working on a vision board for 2024. She doesn’t make good resolutions, although she doesn’t want to drink alcohol for the next two months. For the coming year, her focus is of course on the wedding, a big trip with Liam and Gio and work. And in the meantime, she also tries to end her friendship with Rochella.
The first two weeks of January are over, but it feels like it’s still January 1st. The days are gray and gray and I suffer from a small winter blues. I saw the first Easter eggs in the shops and I can’t wait for spring. My body needs vitamin D.
Both Gio and I are very busy at work, so we don’t even have time to cook healthy meals in the evening. It’s not that I necessarily want to lose weight, but I do want to feel fitter. Especially in view of our wedding and of course I will be trying on a wedding dress at the end of the month! That’s why I took up running again, or well, I tried. But with the Siberian temperatures of recent weeks, little has happened.
Do not complain
Actually, I can’t complain at all, because in 1.5 months I’ll probably be going on a mini-vacation! Kimberley and I have been asked if we would like to go on a press trip to Austria for a story. It’s not entirely certain yet, but in the meantime I have already put quite a few ski jackets in my shopping cart online. Gio was a little disappointed that he couldn’t come, but the editors wanted two journalists to go. It would be my first press trip since giving birth and I’m secretly looking forward to it.
In the meantime, I still have a mountain of interviews and articles to get through and I have lost my motivation a bit. I spend way too many hours on Instagram and get irritated by all those sunny holiday pictures. It seems like my entire timeline is on vacation! Bart wished me a happy new year via Instagram, but I never replied and since then it has been quiet from his side. Hallelujah.
In the meantime, I haven’t figured out how to end my friendship with Rochella. I did some googling on ‘end friendship’, but it still doesn’t sit well with me. Rochella has already called three times and she has sent a video with a New Year’s wish from Liam and Isabella. The stupid thing is, that video made me question whether I really want to end the friendship. Maybe stupid, but I suddenly realized that I won’t see Liam and Isabella anymore.
Gio says I should just call Rochella back and not make things more complicated than they are. “You can just explain it. Just say that the friendship is no longer in proportion.” Every now and then I am jealous of Gio, he can express things so easily and directly.
Don’t hurt
I don’t want to hurt Rochella, but at the same time I want to be honest with her. I think our friendship is unequal and I worry about her behavior. During a run I come to an insight. I can’t let it die completely, but I’m going to make it clear how I see our friendship. It is then up to her whether she wants to change something.
After I get out of the shower, I immediately start sending an email to Rochella. I simply express my words better on paper. I’m busy typing and while writing the irritation is bubbling up again. I just don’t understand why she makes such a mess over and over again. Just as I’m almost done with my letter, the doorbell rings. I run downstairs, slightly irritated, and startled when I see who is at the door…
