Dutch tennis player Matwe Middelkoop thanked Indonesia after qualifying together Aldila Sutjiadi to the mixed doubles semi-finals Wimbledon 2023.
Middelkoop admitted that he was happy to be able to step into the semifinals of this Grand Slam event. This happiness was expressed by Middelkoop on his Instagram account on Wednesday (12/7) in the morning WIB.
“Very happy to win today and enter the semifinals in the mixed doubles. Thank you to all Indonesians who have supported us every day,” Middelkoop wrote, accompanied by pictures of the Dutch and Indonesian flags.
“Hopefully tomorrow you can support us again in the semifinals.”
Aldila/Middelkoop advanced to the Wimbledon 2023 semifinals after eliminating Marta Kostyuk/Marcelo Arevalo at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, London, England, Tuesday (11/7) evening WIB. Aldila/Middelkoop won in two sets with a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) after a tight duel that lasted 83 minutes.
Aldila/Middelkoop served Kostyuk/Arevalo for 43 minutes in the first set until they won 7-5.
A tough duel occurred in the second game which lasted 50 minutes. One after another of points occurred between the two pairs which Aldila/Middelkoop won with a score of 7-6 (7-5).
Captivating results at Wimbledon 2023 made Aldila/Middelkoop successful back to back qualify for the last four of the Grand Slam tournament.
Aldila/Middelkoop also made it all the way to the mixed doubles semi-finals when they appeared at the 2023 French Open. However, their efforts to advance to the final did not materialize because they were defeated by Miyu Kato/Tim Putz.
