In 2024, the secondary school leaving examination (main session) will be held from May 7 to 24, including:
- written part – from May 7 to May 24,
- oral part – from May 11 to 16 (except May 12) and from May 20 to 25.
Two formulas of the secondary school leaving examination in 2024.
In 2024, the high school leaving examination will be conducted in two formulas. Graduates of a 4-year general secondary school, graduates of a 5-year technical secondary school, graduates of a second-cycle vocational school based on an 8-year primary school will take the Formula 2023 exam, while graduates of a second-cycle vocational school based on a junior high school and graduates of all types of schools from previous years will take for the 2015 Formula One exam.
Requirements for the high school leaving examination in 2024.
In 2024, tasks in the exam papers and tasks in the oral part of the exam will check (for the last time) the level of knowledge and skills of graduates specified in:
- in the case of the Formula 2023 exam – in the exam requirements constituting an annex to the regulation of the Minister of Education and Science of June 10, 2022.
- in the case of the Formula 2015 exam – in the exam requirements constituting an annex to the regulation of the Minister of Education and Science of August 1, 2022.
Compulsory and additional subjects for the secondary school leaving examination in 2024.
Approx. 263,000 candidates who will graduate from secondary school in the 2023/2024 school year will take the secondary school leaving examination in the following compulsory subjects:
in the oral part:
- Polish language – without specifying the level,
- modern foreign language – without specifying the level,
- language of a national minority – without specifying the level (only graduates of schools or departments with the language of instruction of a given national minority;
in the written part:
- Polish language – at the basic level,
- mathematics – at the basic level,
- modern foreign language – at the basic level,
- language of a national minority – at the primary level (only graduates of schools or departments with the language of instruction of a given national minority).
In 2024, each graduate is obliged to take the Matura exam in one additional subject at the advanced level, and in the case of a modern foreign language – at the advanced or bilingual level. The graduate may also take an additional examination in a maximum of five additional additional subjects. The choices of high school graduates in this area are most often dictated by the recruitment requirements specified by universities.
In 2024, graduates of all types of schools are not obliged to take an examination in one additional subject at the advanced level if they have met all the conditions necessary to obtain a diploma confirming vocational qualifications or a diploma confirming vocational qualifications or a vocational diploma in a profession taught at the technical level.
Matura exam sheets in 2024
For the Matura exam in May 2024 (on the main date, in both formats), the Central Examination Board, in cooperation with the district examination boards, has prepared 596 different types of sheets and 112 different types of CDs (for exams in modern foreign languages, computer science and music history). , including in forms adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and to the needs of candidates – citizens of Ukraine.
There will be two exam sessions each day: the first one at 9:00, the second one – at 14:00 (except on May 7, when only the morning exam session will be conducted). Exam sheets used in this year’s secondary school leaving examination will be posted on the website of the Central Examination Commission and district examination commissions in accordance with the following schedule:
- in the case of exams that start at 9:00 – same day approx. 14:00
- in the case of exams that start at 14:00 – same day approx. 19:00
In total, in 2024, approximately 556,885 oral exams and approximately 1,405,725 written exams will be conducted.
Checking work and results of the high school leaving examination in 2024.
The works of high school graduates will be checked by examiners. The certificates will be sent to schools by district examination boards by July 9, 2024. On the same day (July 9), the national results of this year’s high school leaving examination will also be announced.
