HOUSTON – A six-year-old boy is in critical condition at a hospital after the vehicle he was traveling in on Highway 290 crashed while trying to avoid a mattress thrown in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Sunday on the highway, near Antoine, northwest of the city.
According to the Police Department, the mattress on the highway caused one car to be hit by another from the rear.
In the second vehicle there were a car and four minors between 5 and 9 years old.
The six-year-old boy was not in a safety seat, for which he suffered the most serious injuries.
