Alexandre Mattos spoke about the negotiation between America and Cruzeiro involving Vitor Roque
Former Cruzeiro director of football Alexandre Mattos said the club brought striker Vitor Roque into América’s “big hand”. The statement by the current Athletico-PR manager was released in the comments on the photo in which the forward Edu greeted Raposa, published this Friday (6/1).
After making comments in support of the striker leaving Cruzeiro, Alexandre Mattos was criticized by Cruzeiro fans. In various ways, fans have attacked the director for allegedly using some information as a former manager of Raposa to bring Vitor Roque to Athletico, in April 2022. After a brief spell at Cruzeiro last year, Mattos was one of the leaders in the signing of the young striker, who is currently at Furaco and one of the biggest promises in Brazilian football. Due to the conduct of the business, fans claimed Mattos had no ethics and the director insisted on refuting.
“The lack of ethics was taking Vitor Roque from Amrica in the ‘big hand’. They never called there, they never called anything. They only made a deal after Amrica denounced in the grassroots group and Cruzeiro was boycotted, they gave 35% to America. No the club, which has nothing to do with it, but the people who were there at the time,” Mattos pointed out.
“If you inform the t. Liga ask pro Amrica. And I speak of the people who have done it, not the club, which I have my utmost respect,” retorted Mattos, who also responded with a statement indicating he was clever in doing the deal. “Intelligence? Paying a fine of 4.5 euros for a 17-year-old boy? Who caught the ‘cunning’ was whoever was at Cruzeiro 2 or 3 years ago [e buscou] in America. Oh yes”.
Several fans criticized Raposa’s former manager, who tried to detail that he acted correctly when signing Vitor Roque to Athletico-PR. Alexandre Mattos also made fun of Cruzeirenses’ current rage, which contrasts the affection of the time when the coach was one of those responsible for assembling the two-times champion Brazilian squad in 2013 and 2014.
“So mercenary that I worked for free twice a year [no Cruzeiro] no. And did I steal information? Incompetent people who didn’t care. Self [Vitor Roque] don’t come here [Athletico-PR], would be at Internacional or Palmeiras. And do you know how long it takes a football manager to learn about a contractual fine? A phone call to the entrepreneur who has a copy of the contracts and so it was with Vitor Roque. Hugs. Oh, when we won everything was the myth n!” said Mattos.
