Normally Marieke’s alarm goes off at 4.40 am and she is good at the Qmusic studio at 6.00 am. In a previously recorded video from the radio station, she casually says that she is confident that she will arrive on time. “If only because I have a natural alarm clock: Kiki”, says Marieke about her cat.

Mattie also thought he would pass the experiment, where all the clocks in the house and in the car were taped and they were not allowed to look at their mobiles. “I always wake up a few minutes before the alarm, so I’ll just be there at 6 a.m. Friday,” he predicted. Yet the clock was already 6.54 am when he walked in. There was no sign of life from Marieke even around 8:00 am. At 9:19 am she was finally there.
Tom from the Intercom, who underestimated himself because he never wakes up before the alarm clock, was there on time. At 5:07 a.m. that is. Also Joe Intern of the Show was right on time. They started the show together, without the rest of the team. Anne-Marie walked into the studio at 6.05 am, when she usually wakes up slightly before the alarm clock. “Now the stars are not there, so it feels like pirates for a while,” they laughed.

Before Mattie formed a duo with Marieke, he could be heard every morning with Wietze de Jager for years. The two DJs were supposed to switch to Sky Radio together in 2017, but Mattie changed his mind at the last minute and decided to stay with Q – without first consulting with Wietze. It led to a controversial split between the successful radio duo, but for Giro555 they now bury the hatchet.
