Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt has explained why he would not be vaccinated against Covid-19 after he contracted the disease earlier this year.
The 21-year-old Netherlands international tested positive for the virus in January and missed two Serie A games while in isolation before his recovery.
The defender is currently reporting to Netherlands manager Frank de Boer ahead of the start of Euro 2020, after helping Juventus qualify for the next Champions League.
In an interview with ESPN.nl, he confirmed that he made the decision not to receive a Covid-19 vaccine, insisting that everyone should be responsible for their own body.
“I have not taken any vaccination, it is not compulsory. I think you should be in charge of your own body. The risk of infection is still there. I try to get in touch with as few people as possible outside of the Dutch national team. . ”
The Dutchman, who has played 36 games in all competitions with Juventus, also
minimized rumors linking him to a move to Barca.
“I am very happy at Juve. I feel like a fish in the water, ”said De Ligt.
“I feel good on the pitch and I enjoyed it. Would they let me go? There are a lot of clubs that have money issues, but you should ask the club.
” I do not know. These [rumeurs de Barcelone] no longer make sense now. It is not important to me and no one informed me. “
