Matthias Pintscher is named Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony beginning in the 2024/2025 season. Currently completing his tenth and final season as musical director of the Ensemble intercontemporain, “the largest ensemble of contemporary music in the world” specifies the KCS in its press release, Matthias Pintscher will succeed Michael Stern, in this position since 2005, to a first term of five seasons. He will become the fifth musical director of the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1982.
