In the video, McConaughey now says he never thought people would ever see him as a serious candidate for a political position. He says that he has indeed had exploratory conversations about a political career, but that he ultimately chose to spend more time in his foundation ‘Just Keep Livin’, which helps young people in deprived areas. He also wants to support Texas entrepreneurs, companies and foundations, for which he sees a leading role in the offing.
