Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves appeared scantily clad in a clip shared on Instagram this Thursday, October 26. For the launch of Pantalones, their tequila brand, the duo appeared in black tops and… naked bottoms.
We knew Matthew McConaughey was versatile. Actor of course, but also militant anti-armes et aspiring politician, here he is now a tequila producer with his wife Camila. If this new cap may be surprising, the video posted this Thursday, October 26 by the couple on Instagram is totally hilarious. We see them across the fields, on motorbikes, promoting Pantalones, their brand of alcohol… without pants. You can not make that up.
“A good dose of fun”
A polished website, stylized photos, a name that catches the eye, a famous Hollywood actor. With its ingredients, we can bet that any brand that launches is on the right track. But that was without the self-deprecation of Matthew McConaughey. The advertisement for Pantalones, first published on the actor’s Instagram account, is a model of its kind. During the 30 seconds that the video lasts, we first see a field, when two individuals, without us knowing who they are, cut through the air on a motorcycle. After beautiful aerial images of these same fields, then of a farmer, we hear a voice-over that we recognize as that of Matthew McConaughey. He asks this question which, to hear him, seems existential: “Since when did tequila stop being tequila?”, and his wife adds “Isn’t it? Where’s the fun?” It is at this precise moment that the camera shows the two spouses on their motorcycles, but without pants, although note that the spouses’ private parts are blurred. Then, in an effect that no advertiser would deny, the reason for this sequence appears in the image: the tequila that the McConaugheys are launching, soberly and ironically called Pantalones. In the same vein, the Brazilian actor and model captioned their clip: “@pantalonestequila, the best thing we’ve done while wearing our pants.”

Known for his anti-gun stances, Matthew McConaughey is also a fervent defender of the environment. It is with this in mind that he decided with his wife to make his tequila a “super premium organic tequila”. Their website, launched the same day, is also an opportunity to understand their vision: “No. The world doesn’t need another celebrity tequila.
