Matteo Berrettini is looking for revenge, in a delicate phase of the season.
The blue qualified for the second round of Vienna Open 2024the ATP 500 tennis tournament that saw last season Jannik Sinner win in the final against Daniil Medvedev.
Among the Italian tennis players competing in the main draw, Berrettini passed the first match against the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and now he is looking for the second victory in a row, something that hasn’t happened since the commitments in Davis Cup with the national team shirt.
In Bologna, Berrettini found the blue again by obtaining three victories in a row in singles against the Brazilian Joao Fonseca, the Belgian Alexander Blockx and in the decisive tie with the Netherlands for the victory of the group, against Botic van de Zandschulp.
In Vienna, it will be Frances Tiafoe to compete for passage to the quarter-finals, which would represent his second best result in the Austrian capital: in 2019 he stopped in the semi-final against the home favourite, Dominic Thiemwhile in 2021 it was Carlos Alcaraz to oust him in the quarterfinals.
