Matt Damon tells in Entertainment Weekly that he starred in Avatar has refused.

Now that seems like a strange decision, but Avatar was, with its motion capture technique, both an expensive film and an experiment. Director James Cameron offered him 10 percent of the winnings; usually the actor’s fee is low.
Damon, who was then the star of the successful Jason Bournemovies, refused. No one could have predicted that Avatar would make $1.2 billion in profit – that’s without this year’s revenue, as the film is back in Chinese theaters. That would have made Damon $120 million richer. “Never again an actor turned down money,” Damon says.
The lead role in Avatar Sam Worthington eventually fell, but he may not have gotten as good a deal as the much more famous Damon.
