Director James Cameron has commented on Matt Damon’s remorse for refusing to participate with a movie Avatar, where the role then went to co-star Sam Worthington.

James Cameron’s comment about Matt Damon’s refusal to play Jake Sully in Sam Worthington came because Matt Damon has expressed remorse on more than one occasion for missing Avatar.
James Cameron referred to Matt Damon’s remorse for refusing to participate in the film Avatar, saying: He beat himself up for refusing to participate in the film Avatar, but the role was played by one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and he was able to overcome it.
In 2019, Matt Damon revealed that when approached about the role of Jake Sully, which ultimately went to Sam Worthington, he was offered 10% of the film’s profits.
And then the movie Avatar made about $2.79 billion at the global box office in 2009, which means Damon could have made more than a quarter of a billion dollars, and Damon commented on the matter, saying, I left more money on any actor’s table.
