Earlier this summer, ice hockey star Mats Zuccarello bought a villa on Nordstrand.

He had to fork out NOK 12.5 million, NOK 2.5 million above the asking price, for the renovation project. It writes Finansavisen.

At the time of purchase, the NHL pro’s plan was to refurbish the wooden villa, which was built in 1922.

Now it seems that there has been a change in those plans.

On Monday this week, the Planning and Building Agency received an application from “Zucca” stating that he would rather demolish the home in order to build a new and more modern version.

An application is also being made for the demolition of the garage on the site.

In the application, it is argued that the villa’s building mass is in disrepair after several years of maintenance, and that it is difficult to achieve good access to the home as it stands today.

The ice hockey pro is no stranger to real estate investments.

He has previously invested in both a holiday apartment in Kragerø, and between 2017 and 2022 he bought various apartments on Oslo’s eastern edge for around NOK 30 million.

– He invests a little in rental property. I’m the one who buys and rents out for him, said Fredrik Dahlstrøm, who is Zucarello’s stepfather and property manager, to Avisa Oslo last year.
