Tom Stræte Lagergren, better known as Matoma, proposed to Maren Gjertsen – and it was accepted.
“A very special Christmas,” writes Matoma on his Instagram, and goes on:
“On a snowy winter day when we took over our new apartment. YES to the rest of my life with you forever.”
Along with the text, he has published several photos, including where he is on his knees and where the two show off their engagement ring smiling.
In the proposal image and in the image where they hug, they are surrounded by a snowy environment.
The songwriter and producer from Flisa in Solør met her boyfriend about eight years ago. In an interview with VG weekend in 2021 he told Matoma that the two met by chance on the street, when Maren passed him while taking selfies with fans.
When she was to give a concert in her hometown Tønsberg a few months later, she sent him a message on Instagram.
– After the concert I went to meet her. When I entered the door where she was, I said to myself: “She will be my girlfriend,” she said in an interview.
Since then they have become lovers, cohabitants and now soon married.
Matoma got his breakthrough in 2014 with a remix of The Notorious BIG’s song “Old Thing Back”. Since then, he has worked with artists such as Dua Lipa, Jason Derulo, Enrique Iglesias, Noah Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Akon and Michael Bolton. In addition to the Norwegian Astrid S, Emma Steinbakken, Dagny, Donkeyboy, Nico & Vinz and Ruben.
