Although each member of the Matīs Čudars Trio has worked in a wide variety of musical styles – from pop and rock music to underground metal and avant-garde improvisation, the trio’s music is mainly rooted in an organic fusion of jazz, blues and country. Their music is permeated with Latvian melodiousness, love for the immeasurably wide worlds of African and Indian rhythms, as well as Matīs’s activity in classical music, including the master’s degree in composition obtained this year at Yale University, gives the trio’s music a structure that often extends beyond the usual framework of jazz music.
