Matías Terra appointed as new Director of Coexistence and Citizen Security by Uruguayan Presidency

The Presidency of the Republic appointed Matías Terra as the new director of Coexistence and Citizen Security, after the resignation of Santiago González, as learned Montevideo Portal with executive branch sources.

Terra, a 28-year-old native of Paysandú, already worked in the security portfolio as an adviser to the general director Nicolás Martinelli. The new chief is part of the Alianza Nacional sector and his name was proposed by the leaders of the group founded by former minister Jorge Larrañaga.

Terra previously worked in the State, first as an adviser at Antel between 2019 and 2020. Then he went to the Ministry of the Interior as an adviser to Larrañaga and, later, to the current minister Luis Alberto Heber.

Regarding his studies, the incoming hierarch studied marketing analysis and has a diploma in “management skills”, as it appears on his resume. The former director of Covivencia and Citizen Security Santiago González congratulated Terra via Twitter: “A good person, a worker and with clear values, who will undoubtedly do a great job for Uruguayans.”
