Matías Rojas is only willing to receive the outstanding amounts that Corinthians owes to terminate his contract with the club. The idea was signaled by the player’s staff to Timão’s board during a meeting held today.
The column found, however, that the hammer has not yet been struck between the parties to pay the debt and leave the player. Recently, the athlete did not attend a team training session after the new management delayed paying part of the image rights agreement. In the contract, there was the possibility for the Paraguayan to terminate the contract in case of non-payment.
Rojas charges Corinthians around R$5 million for delayed image rights, a debt generated during the period of former president Duilio Monteiro Alves’ administration. Since being announced by the club last year, he had not received anything as agreed. Last month, Augusto Melo, current president, made an agreement to pay off the debt in installments, paid the first part, but delayed paying the second.
