Archer Matías Grande considered that “patience is required” with the change of administration at the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), and he trusted that the organization that will now be led by former diver Rommel Pacheco will maintain support for his discipline after the good results that have been obtained recently, such as the bronze medal in Paris 2024 and various medals in world championships.
“These issues take months and even years. We must be patient and not forget that (the officials) are human and can make both good and bad decisions. I only hope that the support and confidence in our discipline continues. For my part, the commitment and desire to move forward will continue,” he said.
The Paris 2024 Olympics participant also applauded the fact that an athlete had been chosen as head of the department, still chaired by former sprinter Ana Guevara, and not a person outside the sports world.
“Rommel has been on our path as an athlete, he excelled in his discipline (diving) and he can perfectly understand athletes. I think that if both parties commit to each other and make our voices and results heard, great things can be achieved,” he said.
The 20-year-old athlete attended the presentation of the Archery World Cup final on Thursday, which will be held on October 19 and 20 in Tlaxcala. Ana Guevara also attended the event, but refused to talk about the appointment of Rommel Pacheco as her successor starting in the next six-year term.
