Mathieu Lafontaine, aka Claude Cobra of Bleu Jeans Bleu, had his first hot air balloon ride on Wednesday, as he boarded the iconic Piko, fresh out of the bag (400 pounds).
“You’re lucky it’s his second flight, he’s brand new!” indicated to Journal the “balloonmeister” (responsible for flights) Sylvain Tremblay.
Indeed, Piko, the emblematic hot air balloon of the International Hot Air Balloon of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, has had a facelift, the other, which dated from 1998, having reached the end of its life. It was therefore aboard Piko 2.0 that the singer of Bleu Jeans bleu was able to observe the lands of Montérégie, the fields, the mountains, the lakes…
“The floor, is that solid?” he asked.
Curious about the world of hot air balloons, their operation and their history, Claude Cobra asked many questions to the pilots during his flight. He quickly took a liking to it.
“Me, I think we have to go up again”, he said, embellished with some “it’s sick”.
The two pilots, Sylvain and Jesse, for whom it was far from being their first flight, formed an impressive symbiosis to see, between calm and know-how.
“Want to smell the onions? We will bring you to smell the onions!” said Sylvain.
Above the ground, as if in weightlessness, Claude Cobra was flying… without his hat and his jeans, with a huge smile on his face.
