He could hardly have dreamed of a better start, but Mathias Normann admits that the transition from Russian football has been overwhelming.
(ULLEVAAL STADIUM): He has already been taken out on team of the week in the Premier League on several occasions, and has almost been a regular when Norwich has named the team’s best player this season.
There is little in all that has indicated that Mathias Normann is a newcomer to the Premier League after an absolutely fantastic start to the season for the Canaries.
In the season’s first victory against Brentford before the national team break, the first goal also came for the midfielder, who makes no secret of the fact that most things go a notch faster in England than he is used to from Russia.
– In terms of level, I was a little shocked. I think it’s incredibly fast, and it’s intense. Things go faster over a longer period of time than I am used to, the 25-year-old told Nettavisen during the national team’s press conference before the World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
The rented Rostov profile sends praise in the direction of his new club, which he believes is “sickly good at taking care of the players also off the field”.
He has also received praise from those who love the Canaries. With his sacrificial style of play and solid performances, he has already become a favorite among Norwich fans.
So popular that he has got his own song, to the tune of Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a place on earth”:

The main character himself smiles well when Nettavisen asks if he has got it with him.
– I’ve got it with me, yes. Some of the physiotherapists have posted some videos, so it was damn fun.

– At times dominated
However, the three points have been long overdue for Normann’s club, who recently chose to get rid of manager Daniel Farke.
Against Brentford on Saturday, however, it was a 2-1 victory, and the season’s first three points for the yellow-clad, which, among other things, is closely followed by NENT’s football expert Kasper Wikestad.
He has also been thrilled by the qualities of the Norwegian midfield engine.
“Normann has at times dominated for a team that has struggled, and he has been incredibly good in the role he has,” Wikestad told Nettavisen.
The former TV 2 profile admits that he is surprised at how quickly Normann has adapted to the Premier League, and especially highlights the Norwegian’s ability not to incur pressure.
He is also impressed with the physical conditions of the former Molde players.
That is, among other things, what makes him so complete, Wikestad continues.
Prescription for sore pelvis: – Sleep, ice bath and physiotherapy
Normann had to stand over the previous national team gathering as a result of injury, and in an interview with TV 2 he recently stated that he is playing with a torn ligaments in the pelvic area.
To the Norwegian press on Wednesday, he states that he has received a couple of injections that keep the injury more in check, and that he is ready to play against both Latvia and the Netherlands – despite the fact that there are only 72 hours between the two fateful matches.
– Yes, I do not think so, I know, he answered NTB’s question.
To Nettavisen, the midfielder elaborates on what he must do to be able to play most of two such close matches.
– I have to have a lot of sleep, I have to take a cold bath, do various exercises and get treatment from Thomas (Ødegaard, national team physio, editor’s note) & co. I know what I have to do to get ready as soon as possible, he concludes firmly.
