Matheus Nunes likely to join Liverpool during the summer transfer window

Liverpool has been linked with many players ahead of the summer transfer window, and one of the biggest names on the list is Matheus Nunes. The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has caught the attention of Liverpool scouts with his performances this season and has emerged as a potential target for Jurgen Klopp’s side. With Liverpool in need of some fresh blood in their midfield, Nunes could be the perfect addition to the Anfield outfit in the upcoming transfer window. Here’s why Liverpool is reportedly favourites to sign Matheus Nunes.

Liverpool is reportedly in pole position to sign Matheus Nunes, a midfielder from Wolverhampton Wanderers, during the summer transfer window. Matheus Nunes has emerged as a prime target for Jurgen Klopp, who is looking to bring in fresh blood to revamp his midfield. The Reds are reportedly the favourites to sign the 24-year-old player and are ready to do more business with Gestifute, the agency company that represented Darwin Nunez’s move to Anfield from Benfica last summer. Klopp’s top priority in the summer is reportedly Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, but failure to qualify for the Champions League next season will make the move complicated with several big clubs interested, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea.

Nunes was first linked with a move to Anfield from Sporting last summer but opted to join Wolves for a club-record transfer worth around £38 million. However, the Merseyside club is determined to finally land him this summer. Wolves have reportedly set a £50 million asking price for Nunes, but it would be slashed to around £30-40 million if they are relegated from the Premier League. The Portugal international featured twice at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as his country exited the competition in the quarter-finals, losing to Morocco. Nunes made a total of 101 appearances at Sporting, netting eight goals and registering nine assists in all competitions.

All in all, it seems Liverpool have a good chance of securing the signature of Matheus Nunes this summer. The young midfielder has shown great potential in his performances for Sporting Lisbon, and he could be the perfect addition to Jurgen Klopp’s team. While there may be other clubs interested in him, the Reds’ reputation for developing young talent and their recent success on the pitch could work in their favour. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but one thing is for sure – Matheus Nunes is a player to watch in the upcoming transfer window.
