“Math Anxiety: Why Students Fear Solving Math Problems”

Nothing causes terror more than solving math problems, according to a study conducted on a group of students in Britain.

The study said that mathematical subjects not only cause frustration for the majority of students, but also psychological stress.

The study, conducted by the company (One Poll), showed that a third of adults suffer from math anxiety.

And one out of every five students fear this substance to a degree that outweighs the incidence of disease.

A large number of students try to avoid anything related to numbers and data, and some of the students admitted that they did not focus on mathematics lessons in the first place, as they said it does not help them in their practical life.

And 35 percent of the students responded that they would avoid taking a job related to accounts, and if they had to deal with numbers they would seek help, the study said.

The study’s authors were apprehensive about these results and emphasized that mathematics is a basic and important skill that helps individuals in various fields, from understanding interest rates to calculating value for money.

The study stressed that this article should not be underestimated, as many people who lack confidence in their mathematical skills are more vulnerable to debt, unemployment and fraud.

In this context, the educational expert, Dr. Muhammad Khalil Musa, said:

  • Mathematics is intimidating to some people because everyone has different skills.
  • The monotonous teaching method is largely responsible for these proportions.
  • Basic arithmetic sciences must be learned to serve the requirements of our daily lives.
  • Mathematics needs teachers who work to communicate information smoothly and easily.
