Dr. Fawzi Hubaishi, Executive Director of the Presidential Initiative for Maternal and Fetal Health, said that the initiative comes within the framework of Egypt’s keenness and vision to have a generation free of diseases transmitted from the pregnant mother to her fetus, in addition to avoiding any deaths in children.
In my interview with the program “Today”, broadcast on the satellite “Dmc”, on Tuesday evening, Hubaishi added that the initiative started since the first of March in Cairo, Alexandria, Qalyubia and Fayoum, pointing out that 12 governorates are planning to join next April and 12 others next June to include all Throughout the Republic.
He explained that the early detection of a pregnant woman’s infection with any disease helps to provide the appropriate treatment and recovery for her or to stop the activity of the disease, adding that on the first visit of the pregnant woman to the health unit, she is provided with pregnancy care services in addition to routine services from them, pointing out that work is done Early detection test for several diseases such as AIDS, Virus B and Syphilis.
He added that the number of women who underwent medical examination by the end of today is 10 thousand and 500 women in the 4 governorates, pointing out that this is a large and promising number and indicates the demand of women for the services provided.
He pointed out that the initiative aims to change false beliefs about pregnancy, stressing the need for monthly follow-up after the discovery of pregnancy and throughout its period, by visiting health units to achieve the concept of “safe delivery”.
On Sunday, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the launching of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, to “care for the health of the mother and the fetus” to early detection of infection transmitted from the mother to the fetus and to provide free treatment and health care in 4 governorates as a first stage.
