After a month, Matej Tomek was again nominated by the Slovak national hockey team. He collected two goals in two matches at the German Cup, and now the implementation team has given him confidence again. This is despite the fact that Kometa Brno currently does not receive as much space as at the beginning of the season.

Brno did not succeed in the Czech league as expected, so new players came to Kometa, including goalkeeper Jakub Sedláček, who had previously helped out in Olomouc. “We were lower in the table, after the arrival of Sedláček we went up, so I don’t have an easy position. But I’m glad we got higher,” said Tomek after Monday’s training of the Slovak national team.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper got to the Swiss Cup two years ago. It was his national team debut, at that time he worked in Dukla Trenčín. “I gladly accepted the invitation. I went to Switzerland for the first time two years ago, now I’m looking forward to it again.”
In two years, Tomek gained more experience, he has been through the Finnish league ever since and now he is gaining headlands in the Czech Republic. “The level of the league is good, at the national level it’s obviously different. But now there will be good teams in the tournament, I’m looking forward to it,” Tomek said.
Samuel Hlavaj from Slovan Bratislava helped the national team at Monday’s training, as Patrik Rybár will join the team only on Tuesday. Branislav Konrád is not fit yet after the injury, so Tomek has a chance to fight for the Olympic Games in Beijing. “I’ve already said that I perceive ZOH, but I’m not solving it. I want to work in the club now as best I know. I haven’t caught much now, but when I get the opportunity, I’ll try to do my best.”
The Slovak goalkeeper indicated that although he does not currently have a certain position in Brno, he still gets a chance: “Who is more successful. He catches Sedláček now, but I believe that I will get a chance too.”
