Huawei’s new generation of foldables follows the line of the first Mate X, presented in 2019 and not of the P50 Pocket. after being presented in China at the end of April, now arrives in Europebut not to all countries.
Richard Yu, CEO of Consumer Affairs, highlighted that foldable smartphones are the future, and that after having launched Mate X 3 years ago, the company has been investing in innovation and in the search for the best design. The Mate XS, Mate X2 and P50 Pocket showed the various possibilities and the XS 2 upgrades the technology again.
“Foldables are still heavy, but the XS2 is thinner, lighter and flatter,” says Richar Yu.
As 255 grams in weight, 20 grams less than the main competitor, and a flatter screen (70% more than the previous model) are some of the arguments presented at the conference in Milan.

The Mate Xs 2 has a 7.8-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 2480×2200. When folded, its screen is 6.5 inches. It should be noted that due to the Chinese manufacturer’s ban on accessing 5G components, imposed by the United States embargo, the smartphone is limited to 4G. To compensate, the manufacturer has improved the Wi-Fi system with tri-band technology.
The processor is a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 4G, a currently dated chip when compared to the latest folding-screen smartphone models. But this may have been one of the reasons for the model’s more affordable price. Battery is 4,880 mAh, supported by 66W fast charging in all configurations charging up to 90% in 30 minutes
Photography also plays an important role. The screen has a punch-hole to accommodate the selfie camera, thus allowing you to make video calls with the smartphone fully open. THE rear module has a triple system consisting of a 50 MP f/1.8 main lens, a 13MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle camera and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3X optical and 30X digital zoom capability with electronic image stabilization (OIS).
