Unsurprisingly, speculation about Locatelli’s future has accelerated in recent weeks.

“The transfer market will bring some news, but we have an important club behind us that can compensate for the possible departure of Locatelli,” says Caputo, who missed the Italian team at Euro 2020 despite scoring 32 goals in Serie A in the last two seasons.

Sassuolo’s CEO has already admitted that he won’t get in Locatelli’s way if a big offer comes in.
