Ziraat Turkish Cup’s last 16 round pairings have been announced.
TFF Board Members Ali Dusmez and İsmail Erdem, TFF Deputy Secretary General for Football Services Özcan Şepik, TFF Match Planning Manager Besim Yalçın and club representatives attended.
Speaking at the draw, Ali Dusmez expressed his condolences to his relatives and fans, as well as to Ahmet Çalık, football player from İttifak Holding Konyaspor, who lost his life in a traffic accident.
Stating that 16 teams continued on their way in the Ziraat Turkish Cup, which started with a total of 132 teams, Ali Yavaşmez said, “We have 17 matches left in the cup. After 17 games, the winner of the cup will be determined. 15 different teams have won the cup so far. 6 of them have won the cup before and 10 of them have not. A new team has a chance to win the trophy. The second half of the season has started in the leagues. The second half is always a more intense, assertive and stressful period. For him, it is common sense and fair play. “We need more. As TFF, we would like to share that we are at an equal distance to all clubs. The champion of this tournament is going to the Europa League. Therefore, it is very important to be a champion in this tournament. I think the tournament will end well.” he said.
The round of 16 matches, which will be played according to the single-elimination method, will be held on 8, 9 and 10 February. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will be applied in the Cup starting from this round.
