With the game tied at one goal, Chelsea comfortably beat West Ham 3-0 away. Below are the editors’ ratings for each player in the match.
Robert Sanchez- 6
A solid match from the Spaniard, who radiated a great deal of calm. He didn’t have too many opportunities where he had to strain himself, and what he had to defend, he defended. His footwork was quite impressive.
Wesley Fofana- 4
The experiment of moving the centre-back to the side unfortunately didn’t work. Wes was very nervous and it almost ended in a penalty for the opponents. Apart from that, there are no dominant moments in his game: good or bad.
Tosin Adarabioyo- 6
Like the guy above, he was quite nervous, but over time it turned into composure and a solid performance. He did quite well in terms of blocking shots and leading the action forward (here, remember the roulette, thanks to which he managed to get to the free field). On the downside, there was a fairly big break, which at times resembled plays straight from the district team.
Levi Colwill- 7
The silent hero of the match and the conductor of the defensive block. He made no mistakes throughout the match and positioned himself perfectly, forcing opponents to make mistakes in their play. His passes made all the more impressive. A great performance, confirming why, despite his young age, the 21-year-old should be our main central defender.
Marc Cucurella-5
Extremely electric and scatterbrained. Cucu lost a lot of quality today by being turned into the centre of the pitch. He was constantly forced to rush towards the unmarked left flank. He also committed a lot of fouls, which resulted in a yellow card. The Spaniard’s constant pressure and aggression can often make the difference, but in this case it seems completely unnecessary.
Moses Caicedo- 8
Despite Nicolas Jackson’s brilliant game, he was the best on the pitch. The Ecuadorian was everywhere, pressing his opponents, constantly taking the ball from under their feet. At times, he referred to the best version of N’Golo Kanté. Apart from his defense, he also made up for it with his vision of the game, thanks to which he managed to get an assist on a beautiful pass from the aforementioned Senegalese striker. With each successive match, it is confirmed that the 22-year-old was worth his sum.
Enzo Fernandez – 5
We saw him in a slightly different role, where he often ran down to the left wing to play short passes. Basically, the Argentine focused on supporting each formation in terms of playing the ball today. Nevertheless, he was very invisible, constantly making poor decisions with passes. The most unfortunate situation was when he brought out João Félix on the edge of the penalty box.
Noni Madueke- 5
In this match, the winger’s worst demons of hot-headedness and selfishness were reawakened. He had terrible problems with making decisions, and his characteristic drop to the middle did not result in anything. Pedro Neto has the right to be angry with him, who did not receive a pass from him into an empty net, where instead the Englishman tried his hand by shooting straight at Areola.
Cole Palmer- 6
An extremely poor first half for the skills of the popular “Cold”. He was invisible and made a lot of mistakes. However, Palmer entered the second half as if he was angry about his earlier actions and after a perpendicular pass from Jackson he hit the net, shooting into the left corner. He did not contribute anything more, because he was soon replaced and left the pitch.
Jadon Sancho- 6
The assist was mainly due to the Hammers’ awful defensive performance. This performance showed that Sancho still needs time to fully understand Enzo Maresca’s system, as he made a lot of mistakes due to not adjusting properly to his teammates. A big plus was definitely his dribbling, where he literally drove the miserable Edson Álvarez into the ground on one occasion
Nicolas Jackson- 8
This was one of the Senegalese’s better performances for Chelsea. Extremely confident, he made very good decisions in almost every situation, and (as never before) he didn’t waste good opportunities. He also made up for it with what he always does – he worked a lot without the ball and made space for his teammate. Let’s hope that this match is just the beginning of better performances from our feisty striker.
Alternates:
Axel Disasi- 5
He brought more calmness to our right-back than Fofana, but also than in the last match. He broke free from the pressing well a few times, and overall he managed to finish the match calmly with a good result.
Pedro Neto- 5
He tried to introduce a lot of dynamics into the game after coming off the bench, but with this result it was not necessary. However, a lot of the action came from his wing anyway, which unfortunately no one managed to use. An interesting variation was that he was also visible on the right wing from time to time.
John Felix- 5
He had a few chances where he almost scored, especially the unfortunate situation when he hit the side netting. However, with time he played more and more conservatively.
Christopher Nkunku-4
The Frenchman’s sluggish game. He made decisions very slowly, couldn’t decide how he wanted to play out the action, was weak in connecting with the play. It slowly looks like Jackson is in a much better squad situation than Nkunku, who came to Chelsea from Leipzig with the label of a world-class star pinned on him
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall nd.
Hubert Anuszkiewicz
I have been a Blues fan since 2012, mainly because of Fernando Torres’ Euro appearances. In Poland, I support Zagłębie Lubin.
Outside of football I love history, especially the former Yugoslavia. KTBFFH
