The ICC has announced the match officials for the first Test of the series between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the World Test Championship. The first match of the 2-Test series between the two teams will be played in Rawalpindi from February 7 to 11.
Richie Richardson will be the match referee while Nigel Long and Chris Gaffney will be the on-field umpires in the Test match starting on Friday. In the Rawalpindi Test match, Marez Erasmus will be the TV umpire and Shuzab Raza will be the fourth umpire.
Richie Richardson is coming to Pakistan for the second time. He has also performed the duties of match referee during the ICC World XI T20 cricket team’s tour of Pakistan in September 2017.
Former West Indian cricketer Richie Richardson as a cricketer has played 21 ODIs and 6 Test matches in Pakistan from 1985 to 1996.
Chris Gaffney and Marez Erasmus are visiting Pakistan for the first time, however, Nigel Long has already umpired in 6 ODIs in Pakistan. This will be Nigel Long’s first experience of umpiring in Rawalpindi, he has previously umpired in three different cities of Pakistan Karachi (3), Lahore (2) and Multan (1). Nigel Long last served as an on-field umpire in Pakistan in the Sri Lanka series in 2009.
