Match Manipulation Scheme in Brasileirão 2022: Six More Players Indicted

The Public Ministry of Goiás denounced six more players for suspected involvement in the match manipulation scheme of the Brasileirão 2022.

The new names included in a process that is being processed in the Justice of Goiás are:

Alef Manga, striker from Coritiba

Jesús Trindade, former Coritiba midfielder

Thonny Anderson, striker, ex-Coritiba, today on ABC

Dadá Belmonte, ex-Goiás midfielder and currently at América-MG

Pedrinho, left-back ex-Athletico-PR

Sidcley, left-back from Cuiabá, who belongs to Dynamo Kiev (UCR)

Considering what had already been brought to light in previous phases, investigations point out that 10 more matches were under suspicion. Three of the matches mentioned in the most recent phase of Operation Maximum Penalty had already been listed, but with different players involved.

O UOL got in touch with ABC, América-MG and Coritiba and awaits response. The report also seeks contact with Jesús Trindade, Pedrinho and Sidcley.

Others involved in the current phase

Alef Manga, from Coritiba, is the only one who is actually active in Série A. He was removed when prints about the MP’s investigations were released, but he was reinstated.

According to the club, “due to the inexistence, up to this moment, of evidence known to the club, proving the participation of the athlete Alef Manga in illegal acts that threaten the result of soccer matches, as well as, given his own claim of innocence” made by the player.

Coritiba said at the time that the decision could “be modified or revoked, at any time, if necessary, as a result of the course of investigations”.

The denunciation sent today (19) by the prosecutors included other names already involved in other phases of the Maximum Penalty Operation, as is the case of left-back Igor Cariús and members of the core of bettors/operators of the scheme.

The process has as parties: Bruno Lopez, the BL, appointed as leader of the scheme; businessman Cleber Vinicius Rocha Antunes, Clebinho Fera; Icarus Calixto; Luís Felipe Rodrigues de Castro; Romário Hugo dos Santos; Thiago Chambó and Victor Yamasaki Fernandes.
